Epic Bullets and Bounty is a Hacksaw Gaming slot that went on wide release on 1 April 2026, after an exclusive launch period. It is the "Epic" version of Bullets and Bounty, which came out in August 2025: the core mechanics are the same, but the maths has been retuned to high volatility, so the swings are bigger in both directions. The setting is a gritty Wild West, and the heroine is Katherine "Quick Draw Kate" O'Callaghan, a bounty hunter whose duels drive the game's multipliers. It plays on a 5x5 grid with 19 paylines and a maximum win of 20,000x. This review explains the DuelReels, the three bonus rounds, the gamble and what the RTP versions mean. Figures are as of October 2026.

How it plays

Wins pay on 19 lines from left to right, and only the highest win on each line is paid. In the reported paytable, the Sheriff Badge is the top regular symbol at 2x, 5x and 10x for three, four and five of a kind, and the card suits pay 0.2x to 1x. Five Wilds, five VS symbols or five Bounty VS symbols on a line pay 30x. With a reported hit frequency of 32.7%, roughly one spin in three pays something, but most of those wins are small. The value of the game sits in the DuelReels.

DuelReels, explained

When a VS or Bounty VS symbol is part of a win, it expands to fill its reel and becomes Wild. What happens next depends on which symbol it was.

Outlaw DuelReel (VS). Two outlaws duel, and the winner's multiplier, anywhere from x2 to x100, applies to wins that run through that reel. If a win runs through more than one Outlaw DuelReel, their multipliers are added, not multiplied.

Bounty DuelReel (Bounty VS). Here the Bounty Hunter duels an outlaw. If she wins, she adds the outlaw's multiplier to her own and duels again, up to three duels or until she loses. Her final total applies to the reel.

Two illustrative examples

These examples are ours and purely illustrative; the values are picked from the x2–x100 range to show the arithmetic.

Situation Calculation Result
Two Outlaw DuelReels in one win, at x10 and x25 10 + 25 x35 (multiplying them would give x250, which is not how the game works)
Bounty Hunter starts at x2 and beats outlaws holding x10 and x5 2 + 10 + 5 x17, then she loses the third duel or stops at the three-duel cap

This is where the volatility comes from. A large multiplier needs several duels to go the Bounty Hunter's way, or several DuelReels to land in the same win. Most of the time neither happens, and the occasional time both do is what produces the big results.

The three bonus rounds

All three are triggered by FS scatters.

Bonus Trigger Spins What is special
True Grit 3 FS scatters 10 Progressive Bounty Hunter multipliers: each new Bounty Hunter starts from the previous one's multiplier. 2 or 3 more scatters add 2 or 4 spins
Four Shots to Freedom 4 FS scatters 10 Only Bounty VS symbols land. A Bullet & Bounty Bar fills with each duel win; each of its 4 levels adds 3 spins and an extra DuelSpin with at least 2, 3, 4 or 5 VS symbols, played on top of the remaining spins
Go Ahead, Make Her Day 5 FS scatters 10 The top bonus: combines the Bullet & Bounty Bar with progressive Bounty Hunter multipliers

The gamble

Before a bonus starts, the game offers a revolver gamble. It can upgrade the bonus you won to a stronger one, or pay an instant cash prize instead. Sources differ on the exact odds, so we do not quote them; the game shows the odds before you choose. The risk is simple: taking the gamble means giving up a bonus you have already won for a chance at a bigger one. Deciding in advance whether you ever gamble is easier than deciding in the moment.

The buy menu

Two buy prices are confirmed: Four Shots to Freedom costs 200x the bet, and Go Ahead, Make Her Day costs 1,000x. The game also offers FeatureSpins options (BonusHunt, Bad Blood and Draw or Die) and a True Grit buy, but published prices for those differ between sources, so check the in-game buy menu for the current figures. Buy options also depend on the casino.

To put the top price in context: the 1,000x buy costs the same as 1,000 base-game spins at your bet, spent in a single click. At a €1 bet, that is €1,000.

RTP and volatility in plain terms

RTP: 96.24% by default. Hacksaw also supplies 94.28% and 92.25% versions, and the casino chooses which one to run. Over the long run, the expected loss per €100 staked is about €3.76 at 96.24% and about €7.75 at 92.25%, slightly more than double. Those are averages over a very large number of spins, not predictions for a session, but they show why the setting matters. Check the in-game info screen before you play, and see our guide to RTP and volatility for more.

Volatility: high. Wins come often but are mostly small, and long stretches can pass without a meaningful DuelReel result. The Epic version is built to be harsher than the original, so expect a wider range of outcomes. Our guide to slot mechanics covers expanding wilds, multipliers and feature buys in more detail.

Max win: 20,000x. The win is capped at that level.

Who it suits

Epic Bullets and Bounty suits players who already like Hacksaw's multiplier-driven games and want more extreme maths than the original Bullets and Bounty. The duel system gives each DuelReel a small story of its own, and the three bonus rounds play in clearly different ways.

It is a poor fit for anyone on a tight budget or anyone who dislikes long dry spells. For a calmer game from the same studio, look at Le Bandit; for a different take on respins and multipliers, see Red Rascal. The game is available at Stake.

How we rated it

We score slots from 0 to 5 as an editorial judgement and explain what moved the score. For Epic Bullets and Bounty:

  • In its favour: a 96.24% default RTP, a lowest version of 92.25%, above the lowest settings of Le Bandit (88.36%) and Red Rascal (86.35%), a 20,000x maximum, and DuelReels whose additive multipliers are easy to follow.
  • Against it: high volatility by design, a gamble prompt that can turn a won bonus into a smaller prize, a 1,000x top buy, and buy prices for several options that we could not confirm.

It sits just below Red Rascal (4.2), which has a broader feature mix and fully reported buy RTPs, and above Max Win Machine (3.6). Our rating: 4.1 out of 5 (Great).

Play responsibly

This is a game of long dry spells, very expensive buys and a gamble prompt that arrives at exactly the moment you are most excited. Set a budget and a time limit before you start, count any buy price against that budget, and decide in advance whether you will ever take the gamble. Use the deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion your casino offers. No duel, gamble or buy changes the odds in your favour. 18+ only. For help and tools, see our responsible gambling page.
