Gates of Olympus 2500 is the latest game in Pragmatic Play's Gates of Olympus series, reported to have been released on 28 September 2026. It keeps the original's 6x5 pays-anywhere grid, tumbles and added-up multipliers, but raises the ceiling sharply: multiplier orbs now go up to 2,500x instead of 500x, and the maximum win is 25,000x instead of 5,000x. It also replaces the single free spins round with a wheel that picks one of four modes, and adds a range of special bets. This review explains how it plays, what each mode and bet does, and, using Pragmatic Play's own published odds, what the big numbers mean in real playing time. Figures are as of October 2026.

How it plays

There are no paylines. Any eight or more matching symbols anywhere on the grid win. After each win the winning symbols tumble away, new ones drop into the gaps, and the sequence continues for as long as new wins form, so one paid spin can produce several wins.

Multiplier orbs, worth from 2x up to 2,500x, can land on any spin or tumble, in the base game and in free spins. All the multipliers that land during a spin are added together and applied to that spin's total win at the end of the sequence.

An illustrative example

This example is ours and purely illustrative. A spin's tumble sequence wins a total of 2x the bet, and three orbs land along the way: 5x, 10x and 25x. They are added, not multiplied: 5 + 10 + 25 = 40x. The spin pays 2x × 40 = 80x the bet. If the same orbs had landed on a spin with no win, they would have paid nothing.

Free spins: the wheel and its four modes

Four or more scatters trigger 15 free spins, and three or more scatters during the round add 5 more. Before the round starts, a wheel decides which of four modes you play.

Mode What counts towards the running total Minimum orb value Buy price
Free Spins 1 Multipliers that land on a winning spin 2x 100x the bet
Free Spins 2 Every multiplier that lands 2x 250x
Super Free Spins 1 Multipliers that land on a winning spin 10x 500x
Super Free Spins 2 Every multiplier that lands 10x 1,250x

Free Spins 2 is stronger than Free Spins 1 for one reason. In FS1, an orb that lands on a spin with no win is lost. In FS2, every orb is added to the running total, which then applies to all later wins in the round, so even losing spins build the multiplier for the spins after them. The Super versions add a higher floor of 10x on every orb.

The wheel, not the player, decides the mode on a natural trigger. Landing four scatters does not mean you will get one of the stronger modes; often you will not.

Special bets and bonus buys

Where the casino offers them, the game has three kinds of paid options. The RTPs are Pragmatic Play's stated figures.

Option Cost Effect Stated RTP
Ante bet 1 1.25x the bet per spin Free spins 2 times as likely 96.49%
Ante bet 2 2.75x per spin Free spins 8 times as likely 96.49%
Ante bet 3 5.5x per spin Free spins 8 times as likely, with better odds of the stronger modes 96.49%
Super Spins 1 20x per spin At least one multiplier on every spin 96.50%
Super Spins 2 250x per spin At least one multiplier of 25x or more on every spin 96.50%
Bonus buy 100x to 1,250x A chosen free spins mode (see the table above) 96.5%

Free spins cannot trigger during Super Spins. The more important point is that all of these RTPs sit within a few hundredths of a percent of each other and of the 96.52% default. These options change how much each spin costs and how volatile the game feels. They do not change the long-run return in any meaningful way.

What the odds mean in playing time

Pragmatic Play publishes the odds of the game's biggest outcomes. To make them concrete, our calculation assumes one spin every six seconds, or 600 spins an hour, and converts each figure into average playing time.

Outcome Published odds Calculation Average time
Free spins 1 in 443 spins 443 ÷ 600 About 44 minutes
A win of 1,000x or more 1 in 36,459 36,459 ÷ 600 About 61 hours
A win of 5,000x or more 1 in 520,346 520,346 ÷ 600 About 867 hours
A win of 10,000x or more 1 in 1,984,521 1,984,521 ÷ 600 About 3,308 hours
The 25,000x maximum 1 in 13,477,089 13,477,089 ÷ 600 About 22,462 hours, roughly two and a half years of non-stop play

These are long-run averages, not schedules. Every spin is independent, nothing becomes "due" after a long wait, and most players will never see the higher rows at all.

RTP and volatility in plain terms

RTP: 96.52% by default. Three RTP settings exist and the casino chooses which one to run, so check the in-game info screen before you play. RTP describes the average over a very large number of spins, not a session. Our guide to RTP and volatility explains both ideas in depth.

Volatility: high. Most spins pay little or nothing, and the game's return is concentrated in rare sequences where several large orbs meet a winning tumble. If tumbles and pay-anywhere grids are new to you, our guide to slot mechanics covers them.

Who it suits

Gates of Olympus 2500 suits players who already enjoy the original and want a higher ceiling, and anyone who likes the idea of choosing how much volatility to pay for through ante bets and Super Spins. Pragmatic Play's published odds also make it easy to see what the big numbers really mean.

It is a poor fit for anyone drawn mainly by the 25,000x figure: as the table above shows, that result is extraordinarily rare. It is also a poor fit for players on a tight budget, given how quickly the paid options add up.

How we rated it

We score slots from 0 to 5 as an editorial judgement and explain what moved the score. For Gates of Olympus 2500:

  • In its favour: a 96.52% default RTP, the same clear core as the original, published odds for its biggest outcomes, and modes that are easy to compare.
  • Against it: high volatility, a wheel that decides the mode on a natural trigger, Super Spins at up to 250x per spin, and an RTP the casino can lower.

It sits just below the original Gates of Olympus (4.5): the new modes and bets add cost and complexity without changing the long-run return. Our rating: 4.4 out of 5 (Great).

Play responsibly

The 25,000x headline and the published odds tell very different stories, and it is the odds that describe what will actually happen. Super Spins at 250x per spin can use up a budget in a handful of clicks. Set a budget and a time limit before you start, count any ante, Super Spins or buy price against that budget, and stop when you reach either limit. Use the deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion your casino offers. 18+ only. For help and tools, see our responsible gambling page.
