What Tether (USDT) is

Tether (USDT) is a stablecoin: a crypto token designed to keep a steady value rather than float freely. According to its issuer, each USDT is pegged one-to-one to the US dollar and backed by the issuer's reserves, and the issuer publishes reserve information on its transparency page.

Because it aims to hold a dollar value, USDT is popular with casino players who want to use crypto rails without the day-to-day price swings of other coins. That stability is a design goal, not a guarantee. The peg depends on the issuer and its reserves, and the market price of a stablecoin can move away from exactly one dollar. Treat USDT as carrying issuer risk, like any privately issued asset.

The network must match

This is the most important point about USDT. Tether is issued on several blockchains, which the issuer calls transport protocols. Its FAQ lists Ethereum (as an ERC-20 token) alongside several other blockchains. The token has the same name on each, but the networks are separate and do not talk to each other.

Tether's own FAQ warns that, when sending USDT, users need to check the destination address carefully to confirm they have selected the correct transport protocol. In a casino cashier this means:

  • The casino will show which network or networks it accepts for USDT.
  • The deposit address it gives you belongs to one specific network.
  • Your wallet or exchange must send on exactly that network.

Sending USDT on a network the casino does not support for that address can mean the funds never arrive and cannot be recovered.

How deposits and withdrawals work

To deposit, select USDT and the network in the cashier, copy the address shown and send from your own wallet on the matching network. The casino credits you once the transaction has the confirmations it requires.

To withdraw, enter your own USDT receiving address and choose the network that address belongs to. The casino reviews the request and then sends the payment. The casino's approval step is usually the main source of delay; the transfer itself is typically quicker.

How fast is it?

Speed depends on which blockchain you use and on how many confirmations the casino asks for. Some networks finalise transactions faster than others. Because confirmations and casino processing both vary, there is no single answer; check the cashier for the casino's own guidance.

Fees

Moving USDT costs a network fee on whichever blockchain carries it, and that fee is usually paid in the network's own native coin, not in USDT. Fees vary by network and with congestion. The casino, your wallet or the exchange may add charges of their own. Make sure you hold enough of the native coin to pay the fee before you send.

Price, balances and conversion

USDT aims to stay close to one dollar, but the casino may still convert it into another currency for your balance, or show it in USDT. Check the conversion rate and any spread the casino applies on deposit and withdrawal.

Privacy and identity checks

USDT transactions are recorded on public blockchains, so addresses and transfers can be traced. Licensed casinos may require identity verification (KYC) before you withdraw, and generally expect funds to come from and return to a wallet you own.

Irreversibility

Crypto transfers have no chargeback. A wrong address or wrong network usually means the money is gone.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Designed to track the US dollar, so less exposure to price swings
  • Available on several networks, so you can pick one your wallet supports
  • No bank intermediary

Cons

  • Depends on the issuer and its reserves
  • Several networks make mistakes easier
  • Network fee must be paid in a different coin
  • Transfers cannot be reversed

Practical tips

  • Always send a small test amount first.
  • Match the network in the cashier, your wallet and the address.
  • Keep enough of the native coin for fees.
  • Save the transaction ID for support queries.
