How Paysafecard works
Paysafecard is a prepaid payment method. You buy a voucher with a value printed on it, either at a physical sales outlet or online, and it carries a 16-digit PIN. You then pay online by entering that PIN, without giving a card or bank details. Paysafecard describes it as a way to pay online with cash.
There is also an optional Paysafecard account. It lets you store PINs in one place, manage your balance and, importantly for casino players, receive payouts. The account requires registration and verification.
Deposits at casinos
In the cashier you select Paysafecard, enter the amount and then type in your PIN, or log in to your Paysafecard account. Deposits are normally credited immediately.
Paysafecard sets payment limits that differ by country and currency, including a maximum amount per PIN payment. Check the limits shown on Paysafecard's site for your own region.
Withdrawals: what is and is not possible
You cannot withdraw winnings back onto a classic Paysafecard PIN. According to Paysafecard, payouts are only possible to a registered Paysafecard account, and only at merchants that offer this option; it says not all online shops support it.
Where the casino does support it, you choose Paysafecard as the withdrawal method, enter the email address of your Paysafecard account and confirm. Paysafecard says the casino's payout is free for you and is credited to the account balance. Your account type also matters: Paysafecard applies payout limits that depend on the account level and the region, so check yours before you rely on a large payout.
If the casino does not offer Paysafecard payouts, which is common, you will need another method, such as a bank transfer, to withdraw. Check the cashier before you deposit.
Typical speed
- Deposits: usually instant.
- Withdrawals: only possible where supported, as above. Once the casino has approved the request, Paysafecard says funds reach the account balance immediately. The casino's own review time comes first.
Fees
Paysafecard publishes its fees by country, and they can affect small balances. The types of charge it lists include:
- a monthly maintenance fee on PINs or accounts left unused for a long period;
- a fee when you ask Paysafecard to refund or pay out a remaining balance;
- a fee for payments that involve currency conversion.
The amounts differ by region and change over time; check the fees page for your country.
The casino may also charge for deposits. Check the official fees page for your region.
Privacy and identity checks
Paying with a PIN means the casino does not receive card or bank details, which many players value. It does not make you anonymous at the casino, though. Licensed casinos must verify your identity (KYC), usually with photo ID and proof of address, before you can withdraw. Paysafecard itself verifies users who open an account. Use only vouchers you bought yourself and an account in your own name; casinos generally refuse payments that cannot be linked to the account holder.
Pros and cons
Pros
- No bank or card details shared with the casino
- Fixed voucher values make spending easy to control
- Deposits are usually instant
- Vouchers can be bought with cash
Cons
- No withdrawals to a PIN; payouts need an account and casino support
- Low per-payment limits with PINs
- Maintenance and refund fees can eat into unused balances
- You usually need a second method to cash out
Practical tips
- Check the cashier for a Paysafecard withdrawal option before you deposit.
- Treat your PIN like cash: never share it, and ignore anyone asking you to pay a "fee" or "fine" with one.
- Keep the receipt until the PIN is fully used.
- Spend small leftover balances to avoid maintenance fees.
- Complete KYC early so payouts by another method are not delayed.
Gambling is for adults (18+) only. Decide on a budget in advance and use the deposit limits your casino provides.
